Sometimes life feels messy or confusing, and we forget how much we matter. However, from the very beginning, God showed us how special we are. Enjoy sharing this story as a reminder of His creativity, His power—and how He made your child on purpose, with love.
Step 1
Step 1
Set the Scene
Say: Have you ever looked at the stars or a mountain and thought, “Wow”? That’s how big and creative God is. The Bible tells us in Genesis 1 that God made everything—the sky, the oceans, animals… even you. And when He finished creating, do you know what He said? Not just “It’s okay,” or “It’s fine”—He said it was VERY good.
Step 2
Step 2
Tell the Story (With Motions)
In the beginning, the world was empty and dark.
(Close your eyes for a few seconds.)
Then God said, “Let there be light!”
(Snap your fingers or flick on a flashlight dramatically.)
God made the sky, the oceans, and the land.
(Stretch arms up for the sky, wave arms like water, stomp feet for land.)
He filled the land with plants and trees, and the sky with stars, sun, and moon.
(Pretend to plant a tree, then trace a circle for the moon/sun with your finger.)
God made animals of every kind—roaring lions, tiny bugs, swimming whales.
(Kids can act out an animal of their choice.)
And last, God made people—YOU.
(Point to your child.)
After each part, have them say together: “And God said… it was GOOD.”
At the end:
“And when He made people, God said… it was VERY GOOD!”
(Give a double thumbs up, big cheer, or group high-five.)
Step 3
Step 3
Reflect and Praise
Say: Out of everything God made—galaxies, oceans, volcanoes—you are His favorite. He made you on purpose and said you are VERY good. That means you’re not an accident. You’re valuable, loved, and made to reflect how amazing He is.
Ask:
Share the hope of God’s Word and pray together with your child.
Scripture Verse
“Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!”
Prayer
God, thank You for creating this amazing world—and thank You for making us. Help us remember how much You love us, even when we have tough days. Help us live like someone who was made ‘very good.’ In Jesus’ name, amen.
